The back of the dog comes

up approximately to your knee.

How big are Lakewood Dogs?

The Size of our goldendoodle and labradoodle pups full grown

approximately 40-55 RANGE (50 LBS ON AVERAGE)

(Heights and weights vary as this is a hybrid.

So we can't guarantee size or height.)

• The Back of the dog comes up to your knee.

• Both are 'gun dogs' who retrieve the duck from the swamp for you.

• They are are companion minded dogs who want to please you.

• They aren't prey driven. Their purpose is to sit by your side and wait for instructions.

Most people don't realize standard poodles were bred for the SAME PURPOSE as retrievers.

That makes a great combination for a great predictable personality in the dogs we breed. Both parents are similar size so we have a pretty good idea what size they will be.

LAKEWOOD DOODLES -

Usually the back of the dog comes up to your knee, around 40-60 lbs.

We cannot promise or guarantee size. Or coat. This is a hybrid. Not a breed.

Occasionally - a larger dog may be produced. And coat is our best guess. Not a guarantee.

When researching this hybrid you discover that there are factors that can

on occasion create a straighter coat or varying sizes.

.

These dogs come in 3 sizes.

MINIATURE. Could be any weight as they are unpredictable size

**MID SIZE : back of the dog comes up to your knee - average 40-55 lbs- this is the size of Lakewood doodles

**

WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TOLD US ABOUT THEIR MINIATURE GOLDENDOODLES.

We have lots of clients over the years who come to us for a calm midsized dog- after having made the decision to buy a miniature GOLDEN doodle and having to re-home it or regret the decision because of the unpredictable size AND they figured out that when mixing a big dog and a little dog the dog was has issues deciding if it was a BIG dog or a SMALL dog personality creating a hard to trust and train dog. We’ve heard some people say that their MINIATURE GOLDENDOODLE was HUGE and had a split personality - like a dual personality because of the two opposite personalities of the parents.

Most of the complaints came from people with an F 1 GOLDEN doodle - where one parent is a full miniature or  smaller poodle.  I appears that these issues are not the case for every miniature GOLDENDOODLE, and it seems that f 1 b is not as likely to have these issues.

Hearing this feedback we have decided not to take these risks -

We don't use miniature poodles as parents in our GOLDENDOODLE or LABRADOODLE program.

Our conclusion is that

If someone wants a smaller dog, they should

look for a small breed or a mix of two small breeds.

  • The Golden Retriever is described in the breed standard as a “powerful, active dog, sound and well put together, not clumsy nor long in the leg.” Everything needs to be in proportion, designed for a gundog to do his job efficiently.
  • A Golden Retriever should be able to keep going all day over rugged terrain, and he’s built to do just that.
  • The Golden Retriever displays a kindly expression and possessing a personality that is eager, alert and self-confident. A Golden Retriever’s height at the shoulder should be 22 to 24 inches (56-61cm) for males, and 20 to 22.5 inches (51-56 cm) for females. The Golden Retriever should be longer in body than height.

GOLDEN RETRIEVER  vs  LABRADOR RETRIEVER

Both are 'gun dogs' who retrieve the duck from the swamp for you.

They are are companion minded dogs who want to please you.

They aren't prey driven. Their purpose is to sit by your side and wait for instructions.

Most people don't realize standard poodles were bred for the SAME PURPOSE.

They are both retriever breeds so there are many similarities.

A golden Retriever is usually longer than a lab and looks much bigger and has a more bushier tail or a wavy hair when compared to a lab. Both shed a lot and grooming is essential to prevent matting. The Labrador has a short double coat; the golden has a double coat - one long one short.

Both shed their under coat making them not very allergy friendly.

Both need to be brushed at least twice a week to remove the dead hair.

Both have webbed paws and hence are excellent swimmers.

The personality of a lab can vary from one another but almost all labs are fun

loving and outgoing. They are very friendly with the children and can play most of the day but do love their naps. The lab can be trained easily to perform various tasks right from fetching the newspaper to hunting. The golden retriever is more calmer but is very eager to please it's owners so training them is easy too. However they aren't as athletic or enthusiastic a Labrador. They also love to be around people and other dogs alike.

A Labrador makes a good watch dog and will bark at the sight of any intruder. However it is poor guard dog. The golden is not a good watch dog and can make friends with a stranger very quickly. Hence guarding is out.
